Can you guarantee SEO results?

No, and here's why that's a good thing...

If someone offers you guarantee on optimizing your funnel for search engines, run. They’re likely to leave your website rankings worse than you started. A good SEO will give averages and time frames, but not guarantees.

I get it. No one wants to keep pouring money into something without a return. I wish there was a shortcut to optimizing a funnel for search engines.

Like all good things that matter, there are no shortcuts or guarantees with SEO. It’s a bit like predicting the stock market. No one can do it. But, you can go with proven success, and that's what I offer... a track record.

But even though SEO does not come with precise guarantees, it is worth it. According to BrightEdge*, organic search engines are responsible for 53% of web traffic, compared to just 15% for paid ads. And as Hubspot* (and countless other sources) state, SEO is hands-down more cost-effective than PPC in the long run.

You won’t see huge gains right away, but if you’re doing funnels SEO right, you should see your website climbing up the rankings month by month. It may take a year or more to start hitting those page 1 rankings, but once you do, you’ll begin tapping into a stream of free, highly qualified traffic that grows exponentially. No more paying for every last click.

Why can’t you guarantee page 1 rankings SEO on ClickFunnels?

Why can’t you guarantee page 1 rankings with ClickFunnels SEO?

Algorithms

Google wins by delivering the best information to their users. To do this, they have to keep spammers off of their search engine. That’s one of the main reasons they change their algorithms hundreds–even thousands–of times per year.

Google maintains their competitive advantage by holding their algorithm secrets closely. Even Google’s own policies warn against “SEOs that claim to guarantee rankings, allege a ‘special relationship’ with Google, or advertise a ‘priority submit’ to Google. There is no priority submit to Google.”

An SEO that guarantees results is not accounting for the next algorithm that could reshuffle the ranking order out of the blue. What works today may not work tomorrow.

Competition

It’s one thing to be one of just a few companies in the country selling a rare car part. It’s quite another to be competing against thousands of companies selling real estate, investment opportunities, or nutritional supplements. The more competition you have, the harder it will be to rank—and to predict when you will rank. After all, there’s no telling what the competition might be doing to try to outrank you.

Geographical targets

If you’re a dentist trying to recruit patients in your small town, it will be much easier to reach your target audience than if you’re a chain of dental clinics trying to reach a national audience. Funnels search engine optimization will get more difficult and less predictable the larger your audience.

Even if we could master all of these variables and get you on page 1 for every keyword, there’s still another challenge: rankings aren’t conversions.

Conversions are the ultimate goal of search engine optimization for ClickFunnels. Rankings give us a nice tidy measurement of progress, but they don’t guarantee conversions. An SEO could promise to catapult you to page 1 rankings, but for which keywords? They may be irrelevant, low-competition “easy pickings” that don’t bring in qualified traffic. Your rankings will look great, but your site visitors won’t stay long and they won’t convert.

A good ClickFunnels SEO agency will carefully define your ideal buyer and select keywords that align with buyer intent. It does no good to bring people to your site who want blue widgets when you sell red ones.

Can you optimize funnels faster?

It takes time to optimize your website, making sure that it’s fast-loading, mobile friendly, and easy to navigate. If you need a redesign, this will add to your time, but it will be well worth it in the long run.

After optimizing a website, we research the best keywords to capture buyer intent. Then, we map out a plan for content that supports those keywords and start creating the content. Google won’t catch on immediately; you’ll need to give it time to crawl your content and start recognizing you as someone who contributes consistent, trustworthy expertise. Read more about the long game for SEO here.

When the internet was less crowded, you could get to page 1 in several months. Now, most SEOs will tell you that it can take a year or more. You’ll be establishing credibility (which Google loves) and climbing up the rankings all along, but the traffic won’t start pouring in until you start getting at least some of your keywords on page 1.

Could I shortcut SEO with shady “blackhat” techniques?

Yes. And some SEO firms do. Here’s how:

Plagiarizing content

A while ago, we got a new client who had come to us from another SEO agency. We started with our usual audit, which includes checking for plagiarism on their web pages. Turns out, their former SEO “expert” had copied content from competitors and pasted it onto their site. That SEO was able to get their site up and running quickly and cheaply because they weren’t creating original content, but it was a death sentence for the website.

Google’s 2011 Panda algorithm cracked down on plagiarism in a big way, and while it may seem like a fast-pass, Google will catch it and penalize it. On the other hand, creating fresh, engaging content takes time, but Google will reward you for it.

Keyword stuffing

It used to be that the more keywords you could cram onto a webpage, the better. Never mind readability. But Google is all about the user experience now. An SEO may try to pad your pages with keywords to draw in the web crawlers, but this will backfire.

Aggressive link building campaigns

When another website links to your site, they form a backlink. Backlinks are attractive to Google because they show that people trust your site, and Google is all about trustworthiness and credibility.

Some SEOs will try to bamboozle Google by loading their site with low quality backlinks. Rather than creating high quality content that others genuinely want to link to, they try shortcuts:

❌ Buying backlinks from “link farms” that link to spammy pages or fake websites
❌ Using automated backlink programs that leave comments in forums with backlinks to your site

Google’s 2012 Penguin algorithm cracked down on these low-quality backlinks. Some SEOs still try to pull one over on google with these shoddy backlinks, but this can end up getting your website penalized or even banned.

Bad backlinks can be very difficult to remove. If you can’t get the source to break the link to your site, you have to go through a complicated process of finding, cataloging, and submitting the links to Google, then asking for forgiveness... which isn't always accepted.
